Lieutenant Governor St Lawrence Walk 2012

A delightful, sunny  day for St Lawrence to host the first of the new Lieutenant Governor's Walks since taking up office; the proceeds of which go to the Variety Club - the Children's Charity. The Parish Constable, Mrs Deidre Mezbourian welcomed Sir John and Lady Gene McColl to the Parish for an enjoyable walk in the Parish countryside. They were joined by 120 guests who were escorted on the walks by Blue Badge Guides who recited interesting historic stories of the Parish. Sir John McColl planted an oak tree in the cemetery to mark the occasion. After the walk the participants enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea kindly provided by St Lawrence Ladies Action Group. The Constable thanked all those who had volunteered their time in making the event such a success and the sponsors Garden Scene Nursery who covered the commision costs of the Constable's Choice painting by local artist Angela Allen. The beautiful painting of Coronation Park in HM Diamond Jubilee year was laminated for each guest to use as a place mat and took them home as a complimentary gift and souvenir of the occasion.
