Royal Visitors admire St Lawrence Parish

On 18 July, their Royal Highnesses Prince Charles & Camilla visited Jersey and viewed all 12 Parish showcase displays. St Lawrence's display was superb with so many compliments from visitors and locals too! A real celebration of a country parish, showcasing a strong community with posters from lots of our clubs and associations on display, photographs of the beautiful countryside lanes and farming represented by an organic vege selection from Fresh Farm Organics on display, jars of Dawn Emmanuel's black butter and some of the free range Hamptonne eggs too! The display amused a few too with its green wellies from which fresh local flowers and hedgerow grassess were displayed. Four lucky people were chosen to meet the Duchess and they were Mrs D England, Mrs P Poulain, Mrs V Toudic and Mrs J Carter. The Connétable greeted the Duchess and having introduced the aforementioned ladies, introduced her to Centenier N Parker-Hood as our Standard Bearer, Steph Britton our Miss St Lawrence 2012 and our two 1781 Militia Men on guard at the front of the display, Mr R Guiton and Mr N Blake.

Report from C L Evans, Parish Secretary.
